Paying at Steam from the UK
Valve's store is the default for PC players and one of the most forgiving on refunds. Here is what it accepts from UK accounts and where the limits are.

The Steam Wallet
You can top up in steps of £4, £10, £25, £50 or £100, and Steam spends wallet money first at checkout unless you change it. Wallet funds do not expire for UK accounts.
The wallet is capped at the equivalent of US$2,000, and money bought on Steam can be refunded within 14 days only if none of it has been spent. After that it stays on the account and cannot be moved or turned back into money.
Refunds
Steam refunds any game for any reason within 14 days of purchase, provided you have played it for less than two hours. Downloadable content follows the same rule, counted from when you bought it. Pre-purchases can be refunded at any time before release, and the 14-day clock only starts on release day (the two-hour cap still applies).
Refunds go back to your original payment method or, if you prefer, to the wallet. Filing a chargeback with your bank instead locks the account and the disputed games until the dispute is reversed, so use Steam's own refund route first.
Families and spending controls
Steam Families gives adults and children separate roles. A child account can send a purchase request that an adult approves and pays for from their phone or by email, and adults can restrict store and community access and set play time. Steam does not document a fixed monthly spending cap in pounds.
Prices and VAT
Steam's subscriber agreement states that prices for UK accounts include VAT, so the figure on the store page is the figure you pay.
